This Week in Popular Song

How I made my money this Thursday:
1.
Xmas reviews (Sufjan, Sarah McLachlan, & Leigh Nash) in the Times-Standard;
2. "Cheat Sheet" (re: the raunchy electroclash artist Peaches) and a review of Laura Gibson's If You Come to Greet Me in the SN&R;
3. An
interview with Brede Rørstad in the Mercury. (I'll post the full interview, which is about twice as long, soon.)

Joel,
I have been enjoying all 3 of those albums this Christmas. I thought it was cool that Sufjan did some hymns that I wouldn't have ever thought of as Christmas songs: Come Thou Fount and Holy, Holy, Holy. My favorites on Sarah McLachlan's are her covers of "Song for A Winter's Night" and "River".

Are you making it home for Christmas this year? I hope you guys have a happy Christmas and a blessed new year!
