And statcounter goes wild...
As I post a link to my newest piece for the Other Journal: "MP3 Porn: Music, Sex, and Community."
It's an idea I've had kicking around ever since I first read Wendell Berry, and I don't think I've even come close to explaining what I'm thinking in this piece. Usually when I think something I wrote sucks, I get kudos for it, so I'll leave it at that. Chime in if you think there's anything worthwhile to be discussed.
The issue ("Gender and Sexuality") has some very interesting interviews and essays. Check out the interviews with Lauren Winner (Real Sex: the Naked Truth about Chastity) and Pamela Paul (Pornified: How Pornography is Transforming our Lives, our Relationships, and our Families). Also take a look at John Totten's essay on Neil Young and the Flaming Lips -- though I disagree with his take (and others'?) on At War with the Mystics -- there's no way that it's an anti-Bush or anti-war album. "The Yeah Yeah Yeah" song is, if anything, an admonition to lay off the president!
