Quick Fix

This week's Un-scene happenings:

My CD-r Go! piece appears in today's Seattle Weekly. This is a regular column wherein writers come up with a mix and then write a commentary on it; I had been working on this one for a while when I saw Neal Schindler's column called "Blasphemy," and then re-wrote mine as a response to his. I think it turned out really well! It's fun to write about God in the "secular media" ... ha.

**

Starting next week, I'll have a regular music column in the Times-Standard. Wait until you get a load of how clever the name is: Standard Time. Do you get it, or what? (Hint: 4/4.) Stepping up the workload (2 articles a week, plus a podcast starting in January) means I have to be more responsible. Uh-oh! If you have any cool ideas on stuff I should write about, um, lemme know.

**

It looks like I'll be writing for the latest incarnation of Bandoppler whenever they decide to resurrect. (The website says 1.1.06, but you can never be totally certain.) It will be web-only and no $, but I figure it's worth it for long reviews of stuff I want to do ...that other people aren't publishing.

**

Tomorrow: Garaj Mahal in the Times-Standard. On the horizon: open mics, Humboldt County bands on myspace (this could be hilarious), Lyrics Born (cross fingers!), more...

**

Now Playing: nothing
Now Reading: Slouching Towards Bethlehem, Joan Didion & The Orthodox Way, Kallistos Ware
