This list seems to go roughly in descending order according to contemporary well-known-ness among internet users. Both Nickelback and Lady Gaga are well-known, but both probably have equal numbers of supporters and detractors. Fewer people know who the Shaggs or Ghoti Hook even are, though I suspect both bands are known for being bad*. The important thing when it comes to having bands worse than you is whether a lot of people know who you are in the first place**.
