7 Ball was distributed free in Christian bookstores for -- gosh, maybe only a couple years, maybe 12-15 issues -- in the mid-1990s. And it totally rocked my world. I can't really articulate how important this publication was to me when I was a teenager. It's embarrassing, but probably true, to say that 7 Ball made me want to be a music writer.
Presented for your approval, the (incomplete) archives of 7 Ball Magazine. Some highlights:
A great article on the breakup of the Prayer Chain, with an honesty that is rare for the Christian music press;
A story about the super-underrated band Luxury, post-near-death-tour-accident;
Reviews of basically my entire record collected ca. 1996;
Message boards on which people were already beginning to bemoan the decline of Tooth and Nail Records. Three years after it was founded. (And by the way, 12 years later, we are not being any kinder to it, says PatrolMag.)
