Today's Li$tening:

Tussle = 16 of the 21 "instruments" listed in the liner notes are percussion instruments. ergo, the album sounds like this: "bam bam bam bam bam bam bam bam" (repeat). Driven by bass guitar, no regular guitars at all. (interview today.)

Q: Do I have to be on drugs to enjoy this? A: No, but it might help.
Q: Is Tussle a "jam band?" A: Pretty much, except with no guitars.
Q: What about those articles that call them a "hipster drum circle" or something? A: Those are pretty accurate.
Q: Does the bass playing remind you at all of classic funk records? A: Yes.

Rademacher = Arcade Fire Jr! Indie rocker's indie rock. Exactly how you would expect it to sound in a good way. I have never been to Fresno or Modesto or anywhere in the Central Valley but apparently that's where the utterly archetypal CA indie rock bands come from (Grandaddy, Earlimart, etc)
