Another Big Thursday

Here's all the stuff I wrote that's out today.

Discovering Sonic Youth in the SN&R. A rather self-centered piece judging by the number of personal pronouns. This is more about the idea of Bands You're Supposed to Like and how it's impossible to become a fan of Sonic Youth at this stage in the game. I've been happier with pieces I've done for this weekly, but I think this one is solid.

What's Got Into Josh Ottum
? In the Times-Standard. He plays Eureka tonight. Somehow I forgot to mention that the album is called "Like the Season" and will be out this fall. I swear I put it in my first draft?

My (now bi-weekly, not weekly) column this week is on Summer Songs. The headline ("All Our Summer Songs") is taken from the name of an album by Saturday Looks Good to Me, who were, sadly, left off the Summer Songs mix.

Finally, a review of Things Go Better with RJ and Al, the new albuum from Soul Position, one of my favorite rap acts.
