Best of Never

I will not be posting a "Best of 2005" list on my blog* this year, because doing that is one of those things that I find so very "tiny and meaningless and sad-making," to quote Franny Glass. And because my brain doesn't work that way. Yes, I am in love with popular music** and I listen to it and think about it almost all the time, but my arranging some albums that record companies began selling to people this year in some type of numerical order according to supposed quality is about the dumbest thing I can think of.

Next week's Standard Time will be a best of column, but it will be non-heirarchical and will feature 5 favorite albums of this year by me and by my readers and some local music scenesters.

-- Oh, I forgot to mention that we released the Dandelion Method Christmas album. It's not half bad...and, half bad.

(* Admitting I have a blog, even on it, feels less dirty than it did two years ago. But still.)
(**And my wife, of course. Luv you honey!)
