Tell Me Why I Don't Like Fridays
Maybe it's because no one ever emails me on fridays, even if I spent all of Thursday emailing 1,000 people.
Anyway, there's a new piece on Scott H. Biram in the Times-Standard (around here it's known, and not affectionately, as the Sub-Standard) this week, and my essay on Blackalicious, Kanye West, and "conscious" rap for the Other Journal. Links to the right, check them out if you're soooo inclined!
Next week's piece for the Times-Standard is supposed to be on DMBQ, a Japanese band that sounds like Led Zepplin. I have no idea what to write about them and don't know enough about them not to look like an idiot in an interview. Should be fun! (?)
My friend Matt just saw Switchfoot in NYC, and my brother-in-law just sent us the new Switchfoot CD. It's actually kind of ... good.
