Letting Go, I guess?

1. I recently received a copy of The
Jimmy Chamberlain Complex album in the mail. I really have no idea what to make of it. Where is the line between Tortoise-like indie jazz-rock and smooth jazz / terrible fusion -- and who draws it? Some tracks are good. Chamberlain is nothing if not technically proficient, but he is so in a very over-the-top, listen-to-me-play-these-drums-now kind of way. Ever since I read a quote from James Iha stating that Chamberlain's drumming is "awesome," I've been turned off. You know? Also, the lyrics are lame. Drummers shouldn't write lyrics. (I'm aware of the irony)

2. I'm s'posed to be working on
Josh Ottum's bio for his upcoming release. Remind me to do this! I've got a lot I could write about: teaching Green Day songs to middle school students, nursing-home music therapy, being a postmodern singer-songwriter, etc. Self-imposed deadline = 6/19.

3. I'm getting rid of something like 100 CDs at a yard sale this Saturday. I've always been really territorial about my CD collection, so this is really good for me. I'm even cancelling the "I must own every album by the bands I like rule." I sold a Weezer import for $2 (
it's worth $35). B'dang. Stop by if you want to pick through. I'll be probably be unloading the entire Radiohead, Sixpence None the Richer, and Squirrel Nut Zippers catalogues (my wife & I have dupes) as well as a bunch of 90's rock and some other delicacies. Here's the info.

Hey, this is Dan, from the Sixpence Vine. I won't be able to make it to the yard sale (I'm in Sammamish, about 40 minutes away), but I'm interested in the Radiohead and Sixpence stuff. How much do you want for each CD? I'd be willing to PayPal you the money if you don't mind selling the CDs online. Let me know if you're interested in selling them to me online, my e-mail address is danny316@comcast.net . Also, if you don't get this until after the sale, post about what's left - you never know what else I might be interested in.
